As the UK agent for EDER Gmbh, Chassis Developments Ltd offers a unique car transporter, based on the Ford Transit range of chassis cabs. The vehicle is modified by the addition of a separate chassis, which allows installation of a tandem axle rear bogie mounted on air suspension. This new chassis is able to tilt, by means of a pivot located in the position of the original springs. A hydraulic ram actuated by an electrically driven pump provides the tilt feature and an over-centre mechanism locks the chassis in the running position. Hydraulically operated extending ramps allow cars with the lowest of ground clearance to be loaded, using an electric winch if necessary. Special 'super wide' wheels and tyres permit increased axle weights, whilst maintaining single wheel formation.
